332 - Vellia

Day 332. This dodgy sketch did not end up at all as what it started out as. Drawn using Vellum. Can you guess who it was supposed to be? A clue... It looks nothing like them. Nothing.

324 - Textural Experience

Day 324. I stumbled upon this interesting drawing tool for the iPad called Vellum. It creates these interesting lines by creating scratchy textural marks that vary with the speed of the pen stroke. This drawing is of nothing in particular, I just liked the way the app made lines.

323 - Strange Object

Day 323. This sketch was made with the app Procreate, a lovely sketching tool for the iPad. I just started making lines and it emerged into this half dressed guy holding an unknown object. No idea, don't ask.

303 - Linda

Day 303. More sketching with Adobe Draw today, which I like more and more the more I use it. In fact Adobe has released some amazing drawing tools for the iPad lately. This sketch is of Linda, and it's been loosely built up in layers of vector lines, then cropped to trim off the rough edges. She's much prettier than this in person.

302 - Handy

Day 302. This sketch was made with Adobe Draw, a great app that draws with vectors and layers, so it produces a lovely graphic effect. I draw with my right hand and this is my left hand.

289 - Birthday Boy

Day 289. Linda's dad Ron passed away three years ago but we still think of him often. His birthday is around this time of year so I liked this image of him blowing out his candles, turned into a pencil sketch using an app called Sketch Me, then treated with some curves in Adobe Photoshop Touch to bring out the contrast.

288 - Lovestruck

Day 288. Sitting in bed tonight wondering what to come up with for today's create, I noticed this small statue of two lovers that sits on the dresser across the other side of the bedroom. So I opened up the Paper app by 53, and did a quick sketch of it. I may have added a little bit of artistic license.

286 - Wizardry

Day 286. Spotted this neat little tool for drawing online called Sketch Toy at http://sketchtoy.com. It let you draw directly in the browser using just a mouse or trackpad (or a stylus pen if you have one) This wizard grew out of a scribble on the screen with my trackpad on the Mac...  just kept adding scribbles until it turned into something... started as a ghost, ended up a wizard Or a witch. I have no idea.

284 - Mr Standoffish

Day 284. Today I was messing about in a new tool from Adobe called Adobe Draw. It's an iPad app that uses vector strokes, but the neat thing is that it can sync directly back to Illustrator on the desktop. Haven't tried that yet, but this is just a first sketch that came out as I was playing with it...  just a few lines on the screen and it became this drawing. No idea why. But I like the tool...

281 - Larry

Day 281. Today's create is a sketch of Google cofounder, Larry Page. It was made using Adobe Sketch and a Jot Pro Stylus, and it did use a photo as the guide. It was then cropped and changed to Black and White using the Noir filter in the standard iPad photo editor.

240 - Fellow Commuter

Day 240. Coming home on the train tonight I was sitting behind this girl so I quickly sketched her using Adobe Create. Not the best sketch I've ever done, but the 240th create. ;)

222 - Don't Fence Me In

Day 222. Another attempt at drawing with the Adobe Sketch iPad app, which I'm liking quite a lot. This sketch was made after getting a Tweet from my creative friend Cathy Hunt, who, although she may not even realise it, provided a large part of the inspiration for this whole Daily Create project. As well as being super creative with iPad art, Cathy was also a world class fencing champion. Engarde!

220 - Pensive Face

Day 220. Today's create was made using a completely web-based sketching tools called YouiDraw Paint. It runs in Chrome, no software to install, making it ideal for classroom use. It also integrates directly with your Google Apps account. It has a number of different pencil and brush tools, and I just plugged in my Wacom tablet and knocked out this quick sketch. It's amazing what can be done in-browser these days.  Thanks to the Google Educast for putting me onto these YouiDraw tools. They are pretty cool.

215 - Staring Through You

Day 215. More messing about with Paper by 53. Sometimes when I play with these sketching apps I start by making a few scribbles on the page and then just seeing what becomes of it as I add more. This face just emerged from those scribbles. I wonder what all this says about my subconscious mind? Either way, I do quite like the particular graphical quality that the Paper app seems to offer.

211 - Beardy Man

Day 211. This sketch was made using Paper by 53. It was really just messing about in the app, starting with just a few scribbles and turning it into a drawing, so I've no idea where this image actually emerged from.

207 - Sir Ken

Day 207. Today's create is more sketching with Adobe Sketch, which the more I use the more I really like. It's a very neat sketching app, with a really nice tool for using a photograph as a guide for sketching over. This is a sketch of Sir Ken Robinson, who talks a lot about the value of creativity in education so I thought he would make a good subject.

206 - Flyboy

Day 206. This sketch of Linda's dad Ron was made using Adobe Sketch. I started with this rather dashing photo of Ron, taken when he got to fly in an open air biplane, and brought it into Sketch, then built up layers of colour and shading over the top of it before removing the photo. I may have taken some creative license with the colours.

180 - Markers and Pens

Day 180. Spent some more time playing in Adobe Sketch, and just, well, sketched. I really like the graphic nature of the drawing tools in Sketch, they make very realistic-looking marks on the page, and the colours bend well without interfering with the inking tools. No idea where this head came from though... Just appeared as I sketched.

179 - Pride Poles

Day 179. I was messing around in the new Adobe Sketch app, just throwing some colours around and using the line drawing tool, which was not a tool usually found in sketching apps. My fiddling was literally just a bunch of scribbles on the screen. I then sent it out to the Repix app and messed around with it there too. I applied a bunch of effects but particularly the drips and daubs brushes. End result reminds me a little of Blue Poles, but on a Pride weekend, with more colour than just blue.

170 - Just Doing It

Day 170. So, I was sitting on the couch, feet up, wondering what I might daw for today's daily create. Sometimes the answer is right in front of you. My feet sketched using Paper by 53 and a Jot Pro Adonit stylus.
