360 - More iPad Art

Day 360. I thought I'd take yesterday's image, which was already quite manipulated, and push it even further. So I passed it through a few more apps but mainly Repix, which has some very interesting effects like bokeh, scratches, smudges and drips. In the end the original image looks even more different.

334 - Street Art

Day 334. This image was originally taken as a photograph of a piece of street art. It was processed through a few iPad apps to create this finished result. Duchamp once observed that art could be about how you applied extra layers of visual ideas to existing artwork, so even though this artwork is based on someone else's existing artwork, I think it's still valid as a creative act.

324 - Textural Experience

Day 324. I stumbled upon this interesting drawing tool for the iPad called Vellum. It creates these interesting lines by creating scratchy textural marks that vary with the speed of the pen stroke. This drawing is of nothing in particular, I just liked the way the app made lines.

323 - Strange Object

Day 323. This sketch was made with the app Procreate, a lovely sketching tool for the iPad. I just started making lines and it emerged into this half dressed guy holding an unknown object. No idea, don't ask.

290 - It's all Greek to Me

Day 290. Today's create is a piece of Greek inspired virtual pottery, made with Pottery HD, a very interesting iPad app that lets you throw digital clay on a digital potters wheel. After making the vase and decorating it with Greek patterns, I passed it through Megaphoto+ to give it this pop art look.

289 - Birthday Boy

Day 289. Linda's dad Ron passed away three years ago but we still think of him often. His birthday is around this time of year so I liked this image of him blowing out his candles, turned into a pencil sketch using an app called Sketch Me, then treated with some curves in Adobe Photoshop Touch to bring out the contrast.

283 - TV Cartoons

Day 283. Using an iPad app called CartoonCam, I took a bunch of shots of the TV screen tonight and turned them into this manga style cartoon block.

280 - Create, Mix, Repeat

Day 280. One of the things I've learned about creativity from my friend Cathy Hunt (from the iPad Artroom... Go check it out! Seriously!) is that some really interesting creative acts come from smooshing a created thing through a number of processes. In this design, I took a photo from thecTV screen using an app called CartoonCam, which gives me a graphical b/w design, then using a number of filters inside the Megaphoto+ app to process the image over and over. I applied a kaleidoscope effect to break up the original image, then a colour filter, then another kaleidoscope effect, then a couple more colour filters, and so on...

278 - Lonely Ride Home

Day 278. This faux watercolour image was made on the train home tonight. I took the photo on my iPad and processed it using the Waterlogue app.

269 -Oops!

Day 269. Over the course of this Daily Create project I've discovered a bunch of really interesting apps that let you take an photo with the iPad camera and process it into something quite graphically different. This image was made using the app CartoonCam, using an image taken randomly from my TV screen, and hints at a medical disaster...

260 - Forgeries

Day 260. This pattern was made by first modelling a 3D shape using an app called Forge of Neon, which is pretty interesting in its own right. But then I took the 3D shape into MegaPhoto+ and passed it through the kaleidoscope filter to mirror it and split it up, then applied another couple of filters to explore a number of different effects. I liked the diversity of them so I used Diptic to create this grid of my four favourites.ts fascinating that these were all created from the same original 3D image.

252 - Hitting the Wall

Day 252. I did another App Slam today with one of my Year 5 classes. I got the kids to get up and share an app, game, tool or tip they think is cool or useful in less than 2 minutes. The neat thing about doing app slams is that I always learn about some interesting tools I've not heard of. This image was made with an app called Graffiti Me, and was a first pass at using it.

239 - Egg Race

Day 239. I found this neat app called Animation Studio (free today in the App Store!) and while the UI is definitely a bit old school, (woodgrain anyone?) it appears to be quite a powerful animation tool. This little sample was just my first attempt at making something with it... I'm sure with a bit more time and experimentation and a stylus, I could cone up with something quite cool.

It exports as a video, and I then used an app called 5sGIF to turn it into an animated Gif file.

224 - Monster Day

Day 224. This friendly little fellow is the result of my first play with an iPad app called Daily Monster. After splashing around some virtual ink, you dress it up with features. I need to play more with this one... I think it could be fun for the kids. And a great way to use some imagination and randomness.

215 - Staring Through You

Day 215. More messing about with Paper by 53. Sometimes when I play with these sketching apps I start by making a few scribbles on the page and then just seeing what becomes of it as I add more. This face just emerged from those scribbles. I wonder what all this says about my subconscious mind? Either way, I do quite like the particular graphical quality that the Paper app seems to offer.

205 - We Got Rhythm

Day 205. Today's create was made with a fun little iPad app called VidRhythm. You record video of yourself making some noises, then the app sequences them into what you see here. It's easy and fun.

203 - More than Words

Day 203. Drawing with text scan interesting idea that I want to explore further. Today's create was just a dabble with the TypeDrawing app to see how it works, so this random drawing is made up of the sentence "creativity is a deliberate daily act".

201- Pushy with Expression

Day 201. Using an app called Verses Poetry, this poem was created using a random collection of words. The app generates word tags which can be dragged around into sentences. It's possible to add custom words to fill in missing gaps, but I refused to give in, hence the somewhat odd sentences. Interesting approach to poetry though.

170 - Just Doing It

Day 170. So, I was sitting on the couch, feet up, wondering what I might daw for today's daily create. Sometimes the answer is right in front of you. My feet sketched using Paper by 53 and a Jot Pro Adonit stylus.

168 - Almost Confetti

Day 168. I'm a little behind in my daily creates, as I've been at the Flat Connections Conference for most of the week. It was a great few days, although in all the busyness I didn't find time to add things here to the blog. ( in all honesty I was actually creating lots of stuff each day, but usually while helping others)
Anyway I'm about to add a few missing days to catch up. Here's the first. This piece was made by drawing lines using iOrnament, then changed using the filters in Photoshop Touch to come up with this confetti-like pattern.
