340 - Let's Xangi Hime Together

Day 340. Linda was sending me a bunch of text messages today that were a little, um, autocorrected. She was at the gym walking on a treadmill apparently, and the phone had a bit of a mind of it's own as to what the text was supposed to say.

So of of course, when someone is "mat the gym" and is asking " maybe u fine here" and whether you want to "xangi hime together", there is really only one thing to do... turn it into a song of course.

307 - Dream State

Day 307. Starting with a photo of Linda from last Christmas, I was messing around with it the new graphics iOS app, Pixelmator. It has some cool imaging tools in it. I ended up with this very dreamy image of Linda, thanks to several layers of saturation and desaturation, along with blends, blurs and bokehs.

303 - Linda

Day 303. More sketching with Adobe Draw today, which I like more and more the more I use it. In fact Adobe has released some amazing drawing tools for the iPad lately. This sketch is of Linda, and it's been loosely built up in layers of vector lines, then cropped to trim off the rough edges. She's much prettier than this in person.

151 - Sleepy Head

Day 151. After a bit of a big night, Linda decided she was going back to bed for a while to nap. I snuck up and did this quick sketch of her snuggled up in bed. I drew it with the Paper app on my iPad mini and a Jot Script stylus. Enjoy it now, before she serves me with a takedown notice...

If I haven't mentioned it Paper by 53 is a great app for sketching and, combined with a good stylus, really is the closest app I've seen for approximating the experience of drawing on real paper.

137 - Getting Shit Done

Day 137. I was cleaning up my hard drive and I found a folder full of Linda's old photos. I particularly liked this one of her in "corporate mode", sitting at her big fancy desk full of folders, taking notes and talking on her curly-cord telephone. She looks very business-like.

Google+ has a great built-in feature for photos which allows you to easily add "meme text". So I used that to add some (in)appropriate text and create this little reminder that she is not a woman to be messed with when she's getting shit done.

085 - Comical Couple

Day 85. These photos of Linda and I were taken a while ago in Canberra, and can't even remember what app I used to put us in the film frames. But tonight I found an iPhone app called Comic Touch, currently free on the App Store. It's from Plasq, the same people who make Comic Life. It's a much simpler, one frame comic maker, but pretty good for making a single, simple comic image like this one.

015 - Cream Dreams

Cream Dreams
There may be bigger issues,
So you’ll think me quite a dreamer,
But I don’t enjoy my coffee
If its missing coffee creamer.
See, Woolies used to have ‘em,
But their aisle shelf is bare.
I’ve looked each time I shop,
But they’re simply never there.
It’s been three weeks since Christmas,
when I saw them on the shelf.
and without my coffee creamers,
I am simply not myself!
I’ve tried with milk, I’ve tried with cream,
It’s simply not the same.
I need that nutty hazel taste,
and that branded Nestle name.
So Woolies get your act together!
I’ve tried that other stuff.
I want, no NEED, my creamers!
Three weeks is quite enough.

Day 15. The backstory: My fiancé Linda loves her coffee, but only if she can have it with Nestlé coffee creamers. Just before Christmas they went out of stock at our local Woolworths store and are still unavailable. Needless to say, she's starting to have withdrawal symptoms.
