204 - Enraged

Day 204. A couple of years ago I helped our Year 3 teachers design a learning task that involved getting the kids to choose an adjective from a list, then come up with an image of an Australian landscape that encapsulates the idea of that adjective. The task has morphed and changed a few times and we've used the basic idea to create a variety of end products, such as presentations, eBooks, etc. This year the teachers wanted to use the same basic idea to get the kids to create a poster using LucidPress, using the word, an image, the definition and a poem. Because I never ask a student to do something that I haven't tried to do myself, I created a poster myself today based on the adjective Enraged.

140 - Che Guabetcher

Day 140. Just messing about in an iPad app called MegaPhoto+, I took a photo of myself and turned it into this very Che-style poster. I guess you could say I'm leaving my Marx on the world.

052 - Pic Collage

Day 52. I took these couple of photos today at school during lunchtime. We just took delivery of a batch of new Google Chromebooks and the kids were trying them out. I dropped the photos into an app called Pic Collage and tarted them up a bit with some colour and graphics, and this was the result. It's quick and easy to use, although the layering can get a bit tricky.

037 - Creative Quotes

Day 37. A good quote has the ability to distill a complex idea down to a sentence or two. You can quote me on that.

For today's creative task I made this poster of quotes about creativity using Comic Life. Although I've dabbled with Comic Life before, and had my students using it for their work, I should probably make more use of it... it's a very cool piece of software.

PS: You can click the image to enlarge it.

003 - Instagram Collages

Day 3 of the Daily Create challenge. My son Alex has spent the last 7 months travelling around the world, and will be home at the end of the month. As a belated Christmas gift I went through his Instagram photos and used some of my favourites to make him a series of collages using InDesign.  I still need to get them framed, but I think they'll look good when they are behind glass.

PS: These are supposed to be a surprise for Alex so you might think it odd that I'm posting it online... but I'm 99.99999% sure he doesn't read anything I put online.  Regardless, keep this to yourself ok? ;-)
