Day 254. While cooking dinner last night I was just about to chop a bunch of thyme. Before I could, Linda moved the bunch to the other end of the bench, but as she did, it left a few loose remnants of the herb laying on the benchtop. This leftover evidence of where the thyme once lay on the kitchen bench made me think of the very bad pun you see in the title of this post. Where does the thyme go?

175 - A Leaky Bag
Day 175. You know I enjoy the occasional bad visual pun. (search on the tag "pun" if you need reminding). Anyway I was shopping today and spotted these leeks in a bag and couldn't help thinking "There's a leak in this bag!"

143 - Gone Bad
Day 143. Linda had a big jar of chicken broth in the fridge and when we cleaned it out this week she asked me to get rid of it, stating that it had "gone bad". So I wondered what a jar of chicken broth might look like if it really went bad?
I'm guessing it would scowl a lot... and say "Don't mess with me!"

082 - Feeling a Little Chilli
Day 82. Woke up to a brisk South Coast morning today. Wandered through the kitchen. Spotted this small specimen on the bench.
I can't resist a good visual pun. 'nuff said.

062 - Stealing Second Bass
Day 62. My son dropped by tonight to pick up a bass guitar that belonged to a friend of his. As he took away this bass, which was one of two basses I had in the house, the pun "stealing second bass" came to my mind. I'm always one to enjoy a good visual pun so I set up this photo with Alex holding the second bass guitar, took it with my Nexus 4 phone, dropped it into Adobe Photoshop CC and after a bit of manipulation ended up with this image.
The original photo was duplicated onto a couple of layers, had a stamp filter applied to it at different intensities, then the layers were merged to combine the best exposures to bring out the details in the right places. Then I used a Wacom tablet and the brush tools to paint in the coloured background by hand. I was originally thinking of a quite different graphic effect, but as I worked on it I quite liked the emergence of the flat pastel look so the image went that direction instead.

046 - Proof of Black (w)Holes
Day 46. At the supermarket today I spotted this jar of whole black olives and was struck by the idea of the obvious visual pun. So a quick photo in the store with my Nexus, a search through Flickr to find this Creative Commons background image of the Crescent Nebula by Paul Hutchinson, and some fiddling around in Adobe Photoshop, and I ended up with this image... conclusive proof that there are black (w)holes in space.
Of course, I mean that in a relatively general sense.
